Michelle Rodriguez shocked Fast & Furious fans a few days ago when she revealed that she might leave the popular franchise if the big bosses do not find a way to give a more prominent platform to female characters.
The 38-year-old Texas native took to Instagram to promote The Fate of the Furious digital release and her message quickly turned into a threat regarding her future with the movie series.
The star of Girlfight said: “F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise. It has been a good ride & I am grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years… One Love.”
It is hard to know exactly what the message was really about.
However, it is believed that the women of the Fast & Furious franchise do not get enough time to shine.
With rumors of a possible The Fate of the Furious spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson or Jason Statham getting traction everywhere, it is conceivable that Rodriguez is feeling a little bit underappreciated after giving a lot of herself to the franchise.
What is certain in the situation, she has nothing but love for co-star Vin Diesel. He is not among the people she was going after.
In a cute reunion video that she did with him, which surfaced on social media over the weekend, she made this clear.
Rodriguez explained: “I have always appreciated that about you throughout the years. And just know if I ever post anything, that is not you I am talking to.”
She uttered those words after calling him, “the biggest supporter of strong women,” she has ever met.
Everything is possible in Hollywood, but the likelier scenario involves all parties reaching a new agreement.
Rodriguez is an important part of the history of Fast & Furious.
